The students use individualized Science notebooks throughout the year to chart discoveries and explore concepts in science. The students use scientific skills such as observing, classifying, comparing, inferring, measuring, predicting, communicating, and interpreting data in order to better understand the world around them in a scientific manner. The students use the scientific method throughout the year in various experiments which take place in our well-equipped laboratory.

Intermediate

Using Rice University’s STEMscopes curriculum, students are involved in inquiry-based learning to engage, explore, explain, elaborate, and evaluate science concepts. Students use scientific skills such as observing, classifying, comparing, inferring, measuring, predicting, communicating, and interpreting data in order to better understand the world around them.

Sixth grade student scientists focus more in depth on Earth and Space Science. Some of the topics students cover are Earth’s place in the universe, Earth’s systems, and Earth and human activity.

Seventh grade student scientists focus more in depth on Life Science. Some of the topics students cover are molecules, organisms, ecosystems, heredity, and biological evolution.

Eighth grade student scientists focus more in depth on Physical and Chemical Science. Some of the topics students cover are matter, forces, energy, waves, molecular structure, balanced and unbalanced formulas, matter, and reactions.
