Welcome to
St. Mary Catholic School!
Welcome to St. Mary Catholic School where we combine spirituality, academics and service to prepare our students to live a faith filled life. Students participate in a rigorous academic program combined with an emphasis on service and living the word of God. The St. Mary education environment is based upon four pillars of education: faith, family, academics and service.
Faith: Students enrolled at St. Mary Catholic School participate in faith based activities every day. Each morning students, faculty and families meet in Cargill Hall for the morning prayer, Pledge of Allegiance and Texas Pledge. The service is student led and is a wonderful way to start the day. Students attend religion class each day, where they study the word of the Lord and how they will live their lives following in His example. Students attend mass each week and participate by reading as lectors, singing in choir and alter serving. Students demonstrate their faith in action not only by their mass participation, but the way they carry themselves in the classroom, the playground and in the community. They live their faith by following the teachings of the Catholic Church.
Family: Parents are the first teachers of their children and are encouraged to be involved within the learning process. Parents volunteer in a variety of ways at St. Mary, such as the Parent School Association (PSA) and Watch D.O.G.S., a dads’ group dedicated to volunteering wherever needed. St. Mary Catholic School is blessed to have dedicated families who volunteer their time and talents to the school.
Academics: St. Mary Catholic School has a long history of strong academics, beginning with students enrolled in the prekindergarten program through eighth grade. High academic expectations are set for St. Mary students as we teach a rigorous curriculum set by the Catholic School Office of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston which promotes instructional methodology that elicits critical thinking skills. St. Mary graduates perform at high achievement levels in high school within private and public school settings.
Service: The Catholic faith stresses the importance of being in service to others. At St. Mary’s, we look for opportunities for our students to take advantage of their God given abilities. We encourage them to dedicate their time and talents to the school, parish and to the surrounding community. Learning to help others will prepare them to be the servant leaders of tomorrow. Students participate in a variety of school, parish and community projects such as volunteering at the food pantry, homeless shelter and working at the parish bazaar.
St. Mary Catholic school students are given the opportunity to excel academically, grow in faith, and learn to respond to the needs of the community, both locally and globally.
